First Day of School

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Actually, it wasn't bad at all. I got to school at 7:30 and started with JH athletics 1st period. This is grades 6-8. And there are only 16 girls. What the heck.
2nd period is usually 1st-2nd grade PE, but we had an assembly.
3rd period was 3rd-5th grade PE. You guessed it....full of drama. One little 3rd grader ran up to me crying. She said, "She already started picking on me, and if this continues, I am going to transfer schools. I don't want to transfer schools." GOOD GOO.
4th period--8th Grade Social Studies
6th Period--6th Grade Social Studies. I gave them a survey for them to fill out about themselves. One question was: "Do you have any pets? If so, what are their names?" One boy proceeded to tell me about one dog that died of cancer and another that was stolen. He wanted to know if he could list them. Sure...why not.
7th period--7th Grade Social Studies
8th period--HS athletics

That's about it folks. I stayed up at school until 6 to get some more work done for the rest of the week. I have a feeling this will be happening a lot.

Glad it went well. My class should be interesting this year, to say the least.

Well, you did it! Are we proud or what? Glad all went well, except for the little third grader. Did you talk to the other little girl who was making fun of her? A good chance to have a heart to heart. Now those are fun. Have a great rest of the week. We love you, Michael and Max.

That's a huge age range -- crazy!! Where's your "first-day-of-school" picture with your backpack? Did Michael cry when he dropped you off? :) Seriously, those kids are gonna love you!

Funny stuff. Let me know if you ever need any advice on how to put the smack-down on 3rd graders. Just a note...make sure that your myspace and facebook are private now that you're a teacher. You might also want to consider making your blog private. Just a thought.
