Thanksgiving in Ruidoso

We left for Ruidoso Wednesday morning and didn't look back! We found our cabin at the top of a mountain surrounded by an amazing landscape. Jamie (my friend from ACU), her husband Greg, and their baby Shelby joined us on Friday and stayed through Sunday. We had so much fun laughing, talking, shopping, and getting kicked out of the casino.....(thanks A LOT Shelby!)

Here are a few pictures of our trip :)

We FINALLY got our internet fixed at the house. The wind blows in Wilson, and it shuts the whole town down. For some reason, blogs are blocked at school. :) Anywho....that is my excuse for not blogging.

My JH girls were supposed to have a home game yesterday but the opponent didn't show up! Ugh. I DID order some sweet socks for my girls though, and they came in today in time for our game on Monday!

Tomorrow, Michael and I are heading to Ruidoso for a little vaca. I am so pumped! I also can't wait to snuggle my friend Jamie's sweet baby. :)

Tagged.

Dang it. I had gone a really long time without being tagged, and I get tagged three times in a span of two weeks. Dang it. Dee Dee, Stephanie, and Lauren.....here you go! Maybe there were more. I don't know.
So I am supposed to share 7 random things....here it goes...

1. I am obsessed with taking showers. Ask any of my good friends, my husband, my family...they will tell you. I can't help it. Call it OCD if you must. I just like to be clean.

2. I am in my very first year of teaching/coaching and loving it (well...most of the time). I teach 6-8 Social Studies and coach Junior High girls basketball. They would probably say I am mean...but you do what you gotta do.

3. I would LOVE to have twin girls. I don't know if I have shared this with many people...but it's true.

4. My gag reflex is constantly in overdrive. Seriously...the reason I thought about this now is because of today....the smelly (understatement) kid in class ran out of my classroom and puked ALL over the sidewalk outside. I wanted to go help...I really did.

5. I am the youngest of 5 kids. My parents are old :) My brother (the oldest) is going to be the big 4-0 in December. Whoa. I LOVED growing up in a large family. Of course, it came with its disadvantages at times....but I wouldn't change a thing about it. My parents may have a different opinion about that :)

6. Michael and I met on match.com. :) Most of you random readers probably don't know this. After being encouraged by a friend who met her husband on there, I decided to sign up after just getting out of a horrible relationship with a complete loser. I was afraid to go ANYWHERE outside of my house in fear I would run into him. So...this was a great alternative :) Better than meeting someone in a bar, right? :)

7. I used to HATE (and I do mean HATE) dogs. Michael talked me into "letting" him get a dog. I'm glad I "let" him. :)

Ok....I tag everyone on my list :) DO IT!

Wilson Homecoming 2008 "Hunt the Leopards"

This past week was full of festivities for Homecoming. Tuesday, school was released at 1:00 to prepare for the Homecoming Parade and Bon Fire. I organized and decorated the Junior High float. To go along with the theme, we decorated the truck with camo burlap. I was dressed like I came straight out of a safari, and all of my junior high kids were different kinds of animals. It was pretty cute. Too bad I don't have any pictures of it.

Program cover (We were supposed to play PCA and "Hunt the Eagles" but they cancelled on us in the middle of the week!)

Plans for a 2nd Honeymoon

If you have followed my blog for a while (actually my old blog), you know that our honeymoon was just short of a disaster. Ok, that may be exaggerating just a little big. The main points to that story were: about to leave Lubbock to head to Galveston for our honeymoon and car won't start. Get it towed to the shop. Rent a car. Spend a lot of our extra money on that. Get to Galveston. Find out the crew is a bunch of morons. Leave the port 12 hours late. Storms every day at sea. More drama happens but I will spare you. Get back to Lubbock. Pick up my car from the shop. Go to visit Charlie. Head back to the apartment and get in a wreck. And the story goes on.....

Anywho...since that was our oh-so-exciting honeymoon, we have decided to plan somewhat of a second honeymoon during Thanksgiving break. We are heading to Ruidoso, NM and staying in an awesome cabin! Two of our friends are going to meet us up there the weekend after Thanksgiving to hang out. I absolutely cannot wait!

Here are some pictures of the awesome cabin! It is loaded with everything we need....flat screen HD TVs, Direct TV, DVD player and a hot tub!

PS....In case you care, we got 45ed in the first half again last night. Awesome.

The joys of Mustang 6-Man Football

Here is the progress (or not so much) of our football season thus far.....

Last Friday night, we start the game with 8 players. We have our kick off guys on the field. #7 kicks the ball....#2 trips over his own feet....he is down on the field. Crap. He is carried off the field. Mom and dad come down. Dad says a few choice words to Coach S. Dad is thrown out of the game and all athletic functions for the rest of the year. #2 is taken off on a stretcher....heads to the hospital. We are down to 7 players. In the 4th quarter, #4 twists his ankle....down to 6 players. We finish the game alive.

Fast forward to tonight's game....

We start the game off with 7 players. In the beginning of the 2nd quarter, #14 is the ball carrier and gets laid out by the defense (and I mean OUT)....down on the field. He is taken off on a stretcher and heads to the hospital. We are down to 6 players (in the 2ND quarter!). Now the score is something like 34-0 (umm...not in our favor). A couple of plays later, #8 goes down for a second but gets back up. He still has to sit out a play since he delayed the game. We have 5 players on the field. A-holes throw a "hail mary" for another touchdown. Are you kidding me? We are down to 5 players on the field. You are up by 34....and you run a crap play like that?? Coach S kicks the ball halfway across the field. 15 yard penalty against the Mustangs for unsportsmanlike conduct. Awesome. Way to go coach. Other team intercepts....touchdown. And that's the ball game. We got 45ed in the 1st half. Sad, sad day.

This is my life now. Jealous?
